What's on your list to Santa?

We just sent notes to our kids asking for their lists for Santa. What do folks in your family have on their lists?

I’ll start.

DS wants a small drill set for woodworking, and a cookbook.

DD wants a nail spa gift card…nothing else.

DH and I would like DS to make us a breakfast or brunch. In the past he has made us dinner. He is a terrific cook!

No Santa here. Hannukah Harry. He just brought me a new laptop, so I dont have to lug a big, heavy 17" one around and rip up my shoulder any more. Thank you, Hannukah husband, err, I mean Harry.

My younger son wants money, money, money. My older son wants a slack line (it’s like a tight-rope), plus some workout shirts without sleeves. My Step-daughter wants a gift certificate to spa, and some “cute tops to go out in.” I think that means less conservative than I would normally buy. Husband and I are going to Hawaii for 2 weeks in February (it’s our empty nest celebration, and probably our last big trip for some time, as we are now paying 3 tuitions), so our gifts to each other will be pretty small.

I’ve been trying to take D shopping since she came home on 11/14, but so far, she hasn’t had energy beyond one short Costco trip–for groceries. None of us can figure out what S wants, as he’s VERY particular in his tastes and buys what he sees that he likes at great prices. Not sure what to get H or D either, but suspect I’ll figure out something. Will be watching this list to see if any ideas here will work.

H and I generally don’t gift much, other than little things to one another.

@1214mom‌ My oldest loved his slack line! It’s amazing what they can do on them. Shoulda sent him to circus school instead of college ;-)

Oldest has not yet replied to our request for ideas…so he’ll get a sweatshirt, a book, and some new flip flops (gotta be Rainbows!). Maybe an amazon gift card to round things out.

D is lucky I did her shopping before her latest moody antics or she’d be getting coal. Got her boots and tix to a couple concerts.

Youngest is our content guy. He says he has it all, so whatever we think will be fine. Likely that Santa will find some cool clothes and maybe some experience type things ( indoor skydiving ). And cash.

H is getting books/ clothes.

I need a new phone, but honestly could wait. Nothing really strikes my fancy right now, except a nail spa/ massage coupon. I just want to be together for the holidays. My mom has been ill so each time we get together I am mindful that tomorrow isn’t promised.

New kindle for D, lifetime fishing license for son, jackery (external battery for phone/ipad–LOVE mine) for a couple people on my list. Plundering the hardware store for small stuff–keys with team logos, pocket measuring tapes.
Fun socks. I already have everything I want --except that dinner/breakfast from son (mine’s a good cook too!).
Just saw Target will have their gift cards 10 per cent off on Black Friday in am. Can order on-line too.

I’m going to play Santa and buy myself the newly published, “Pioneer Girl”, an annotated autobiography of Laurel Ingalls Wilder. I’ll send my son VT food gifts.

I would love any of these things: a particular Christmas ornament I’ve had my eye on, an annual membership to AMNH, a certain camera that I like, a Kindle Voyage (I really don’t need a Kindle - LOVE my Paperwhite, and I don’t think anyone will get it for me, but if someone did, I would be thrilled to have it); oh, and an Amazon gift card. I also love stocking stuffer gifts - small/inexpensive puzzles, gadgets, cute stuffed animals.

An early Christmas gift for me: An acceptance to Stanford University December 1st.

Would also like a weight set. And new clothes!!

D likes the idea of a slackline for S and says thanks for putting the idea on my radar and in my mind. S is a rockclimber and balance is an important thing. She says they had one on their college campus and assumes he used it and would probably enjoy it.

D told me over the summer that in the future, she doesn’t want “things” so much, but would rather have event gifts (concerts, etc.) or giftcards. I’ve already gotten her a Fandango giftcard, and I’m going to contact her dance studio to see if they have gift certificates or how I can pay for a month’s worth of lessons for her.

But the big thing she and I are doing is matching mother-daughter tattoos. I’ve been thinking about a tattoo for 30 years, a small discreet one, and have never gotten it. She also doesn’t have any ink. So she’s talked me into it.

I’m happy–got the Slackline at REI; it was on sale for 20% off plus used my dividend so it was just over $40 and had free shipping as well. It will arrive at our home while S is here, so maybe he and D can try it out together. I think we’ll make it his belated birthday gift.

I think DS would also enjoy a slackline, He does some other circus tricks. But he lives in an apartment in a city. If he had a slack line, could he just take it to a public park with trees and temporarily attach it?

^wow, that’s interesting LasMa. My D wants us to get them too- but I’m not quite ready. It would be small and discreet but I haven’t settled on a design- or if I can go through with it.
I don’t need anything but if Santa wanted a list, I’d go with a massage or salon gift card, iTunes card or books. If it was a splurge, I’d ask for a data phone.

psychmomma, it took her 2 years to talk me into it. They will be on our ankles, so easily covered up since I only wear slacks to work, only about 1.5". We are going with a paisley, because I’ve found paisleys fascinating since I was a little girl. An artist friend of hers is going to submit designs.

@motherbear332‌ is there a college campus nearby? My kid found that it was far more acceptable on campus, vs park. But if the trees are big enough (and properly spaced) the line really doesn’t do damage to the tree…well, not significant damage.

Yes, there is a protocol so you don’t damage the trees with slacklines, but as @shellz indicates, campuses are ore accepting and some even set up spaces for this. It’s a good way to get fitnes and balance. You want to be sure to use a big enough tree and spread the load to minimze any damage.

Cowboy boots… and a Porsche.

Paris would do it. I don’t think that’ll happen
Maybe we’ll get to NYC, if I arrange it. I don;t think we want any particular gifts, just time together.

New thing learned today - slackline. Have never heard of this item!!!

D1 has kitchen stuff, jewerly and home/apt stuff on her list. She is super easy to buy for.

S has little on his list so far - a couple of soccer shirts/jerseys. He is TOUGH to buy for.

D2 has a “quality” beats “quantity” list - Patagonia wear, leather ankle boots, Etsy jewerly, etc. She is EXPENSIVE to buy for!!!
