I basically want to meet a bunch of social freshmen who really like to party and get down (play drinking games, loud music, just kick back and have a bunch of uninhibited fun).

Which house(s) would exemplify this sort of atmosphere the most? Oh yeah, and don’t flame me for this, which house has the hottest girls?

i mean, the quad has great people, and its fun to play frisbee in the quad when its nice out, and drink in your rooms and such, but by no means is the quad party central. the most youll see is a bunch of your friends drinking in your room together, havin fun.

hill, on the other hand, actually feels more like a big party. a) they don’t have RAs, they have GAs. graduate students are always gone working and stuff, and when they are around they don’t care nearly as much as some undergraduate senior looking to bust people. b) the halls are all connected, so you can roam around and like FIND a party. one night i got blazed with some hill friends and wandered into a room party where they converted their room into a bar, supplied with 20 handles of vodka. after leaving that, we went and found other rooms to drink in as well.

that doesnt happen in the quad. you dont just roam around and find parties. so sorry, i dont think the last two posts accurately depicted dorm parties.

also: the girls are pretty much evenly distributed. i dont go to kings court very often, or the mostly upperclassmen dorms, but i imagine that their girls are equally hot/not hot as the girls i know at hill, or around me in the quad.

i thought a lot of the houses in the quad are connected inside. also, if you have friends you already know, it’s easy to go out your house door, walk across the lawn, and go to their room.

do hill people tend to leave their doors open/have everyone welcome parties than quad people?

i believe the second point; my room in hill could handle that sort of accomplishment if my roommate and i were creative…

and indeed, quad really isn’t party central to a certain extent; people wouldn’t leave quad in droves on thursday - saturday nights to head to parties elsewhere if that were so. any dorm and any suite can be social if the residents are motivated…

as for quad, all buildings that share walls have connecting hallways, with the exception of leidy and franklin in fisher hassenfeld… but not like that’s a big deal; just go outside and right back in.

i dunno about leidy and franklin, but class of 28 and brooks have a giant wall between them too.

and also, with respect to the quad being technically connected: yeah, although for the most part theyre technically connected, because of small barriers such as doors and stairs and whatnot, the halls are psychologically isolated from one another. i mean of course if you have friends you can go to their rooms, but hill is LITERALLY one giant hall atop another. The Quad is like dozens and dozens of halls of about maybe 15-20 people, whereas Hill has 5 giant halls of over 100 people each.

not to confuse anyone: the quad rocks, and i strongly advise you to apply to the quad. but as a “party” dorm, hill beats it.

1) the rooms are significantly bigger, especially if you’re on a higher floor
2) air conditioning
3) there’s actually a courtyard, so i wake up every day (when its nice) to the sight of our fabulous architecture and people playing frisbee
4) it’s closer to just about everything on campus (except DRL, where most if not all math classes are)
5) one thing that makes a difference for at least the first half of the first semester, perhaps longer, is that it’s closer to most of the frats on campus and thus is a shorter walk. this means shorter drunken stumbles back.
6) though hill also has a lot of people, there are more freshmen in the quad, so once you’re making friends and such, you’ll notice a high % of them live in the quad and thus are easier to have fun with
7) Spring Fling, a weekend (up to a week, if youre a real partier) of non-stop drunkenness and craziness, is located entirely within the quad, so having a room in the quad is a BIG plus in early april
8) if you really dig the Hill social scene, you can always just make friends at Hill and hang out with them from time to time and then go back to your beautiful quad room.
