What's the difference between Chem 2070 and Chem 2090?

The first is for chem/premed majors, while the second is for engineers, but what’s the difference between the two in content? Why do engineers get a different course from chem/premed majors, or vice-versa? Is one harder than the other?

2070 is Gen Chem for the University. 2090 focuses on the most relevant aspects of chemistry that may apply to engineers. Unless you’re a chemical engineer, it would probably be the last chem class you take as an engineer. Whereas premeds would have to move on to 2080, which is like Part II of Gen Chem. I’m not sure if engineers have to take 2080 - I don’t think so, but I could be wrong.

Thanks. Engineers don’t have to take 2080.

It just strikes me as strange that Gen Chem can be “tailored” to just engineers. Not specifically to chemical engineers – that I can believe – but all engineers.
