I was just wondering the difference btween Colonial Cash and Debit Dollars? And as a jounior living in Ivory Towers what amount would be recommended other than the amount online? And is soapy joes a good deal? Another question, I am moving from California to DC, is shipping most of my stuff a good idea? Does the mail room mix things up? Thanks!

There isn’t a difference between Colonial Cash and Debit Dollars. They have been merged into one system. The amount all really depends on how much you feel like eating on the card. Do you intend on buying your own groceries and cooking? Do you intend on having a part-time job?

Because a lot of people are shipping their stuff and buying their books online, the waiting line at the packages service office will be very very long - upwards to hour-long waits. Be smart about when you go (very early, very late) and avoid the rush times (after classes end, after people get back from jobs).

I was told that if you reside in dorms such as Thurston and Potomac that are large and have storage rooms, the packages would be delivered to those storage rooms. In other words, you wouldn’t have to go to pick them up at the mail services. Is this incorect?

Yes, I called the school yesterday, and while I only asked about Thurston, where my son will be living, they said that the packages will be waiting in the Thurston Piano Lounge. I hope so… I shipped 3 boxes plus a television yesterday.
