So I got a 30,000 dollar scholarship from Steinhardt. This leaves about 25-30 thousand left over to pay (I got loans, too).

I know everyone’s financial situation is different, but for an average, middle class family, would I be paying too much?

25 thousand is about the same I’d be paying at the two other schools I got into: Rutgers and BU (give or take).

I, too, have been accepted to Steinhardt (music major) and to Rutgers. N.Y.U. will cost more than double the costs at Rutgers. I have no scholarships, but am in the fortunate position of being able to afford either choice. My dilemna is as to whether N.Y.U. is worth double (or more) the cost of a Rutgers education.

I’d say it’s definitely worth more…double, though, I’m unsure.

NYU is better academically. US News puts NYU at 33 and Rutgers at 60-something.
And NYU is better for networking. Rutgers (assuming you got accepted to NB) is in a relatively small town…NYU is not. lol

I’d be inclined to say NYU if you could afford it, but, if I were in that situation, I’d have to go with Rutgers with my income, as unfortunate as that is.

Thanks Draken; Hope to meet of with you one place or the other.
