What's the one thing you wish you could change about your school?

If you could change one thing about your school, whether it be the layout, location, anything!..what would it be?

I go to the University of Pittsburgh and I wish we had a different climate. The first month back to school is great. The sun is always shinning, it’s hot out, the girls dress up (haha), but once mid October hits, things start to take a turn for the worst. Though it doesn’t really get viciously cold until 2nd semester (Jan, Feb especially), I immediately yearn for the days of old when the leaves start to change colors.

Thoughts?

I know I’m going to sound like a repetitive hag but here it is. I WISH MY SCHOOL WASN’T A COMMUTER!! There I said it because there’s soo much to offer, and plus the lectures, forums, and club meetings I go to always bring up lack of participation. The school spirit needs to be cranked up big time and all the time not just during basketball season, but YEAR AROUND. Besides during the whole Virginia Tech incident people came together and chanted “We are hokies”. If that happened at my school everyone would diss on it say bad and it would be a good excuse not to attend. OK, I know someone is thinking why not transfer well I’m not I like my school and I do a lot for it and I stay campus. Plus, this is what I would change for my school.

Less expensive/better financial aid package (or convince my parents to pay?)

Better food (ie, more options, better dining plan, etc etc etc)

There are already more chicks than dudes at my school, but I would like to get rid of half the dudes and double the chicks. There is nothing better then walking around campus looking at a whole bunch of eye candy.

The climate, also. It snows… A LOT. I wouldn’t mind snow every now and then… but there’s just way too much. This year there was 140 inches of snow. I hate not wearing my flip flops and having to wear a coat. Either that, or wishing the surrounding city was nicer.

Love everything else though. (:

Taco Bell on campus.

1) make it hogwarts

or if that was not possible, transport the town of Chapel Hill outside of the campus of Wake Forest. That would be amazing.

I’ll second the weather thing.

1 though–I wish we had a football team :/

I’d want to get rid of the stressed out, broken-spiritness.

Some school you attend.

Definitely better parking!! They act like the students don’t have the right to park anywhere but the freaking middle of nowhere, plus they keep taking away parking spots while they keep adding students every year… where does that make sense???

Another thing, slightly less annoying, is that I wish they would finish one construction project before they started on another one! I don’t mind the construction, generally, because I know it betters the campus and such, but would it kill them to finish something before starting on something completely different? Give us a break to have a pretty campus again once and a while. The rate we’re going, we’re never going to NOT see red dirt everywhere.

Dilksy-

They just put one in at my school…I’m incredibly pumped to say the least.

Better shopping areas that I can reach by foot (UV SUCKS!) and better neighborhood. Its not horrible but its not something anybody would want either around their school.

I am jealous of UCLA neighborhood area so… i luv diddy reese

I’m gonna go against the trend and say…I wish there was more snow. And that my school was in the mountains or at least near some decent ski areas.

I don’t mind the bad parking situation, I just park at my apartment (just north of campus) and walk everywhere on campus. I can take the bus if I want. And the streets on campus have restricted access (via gates and access cards) during the day for deliveries and staff/faculty only. People just can’t seem to realize that most colleges were built and their campuses mostly laid out/planned LONG before cars took over as the main form of transportation, so of course the streets are going to be narrow w/ limited parking. Unless you want a historic building demolished, walking around campus will not kill you. Unless you get hit by a rogue delivery truck of course.

Things I would change about my school:

Class sizes for some specific lectures
Getting into writing classes
Revising the idea of priority enrollment
Overcrowded-ness on-campus
No unit-cap - I want to take a lot of classes that don’t count for my major but unfortunately, there is an enforced unit-cap!
“Asian” food on-campus
More healthy choices in the dining halls and on-campus

And most importantly:
CHEAPER HOUSING!!!

I would change the fact that my school lets students get away with not wearing the school uniform.

aurora borealis, I agree about no credit hour limit. The classes that you could take just because you are interested and the grade doesn’t count towards in anything.

I’d decrease tuition. Yep.

I wish it could be a tuition-free college,just like…olin or cooper union!
lmao
