What's the point of sarcasm?

<p>it adds emphasis, and since it is contradictory, it strongly emphasized the opposite.
Ex:
<em>guy1 does something stupid</em>
guy2:wow you’re smart</p>

<p>guy2 used sarcasm to emphasize that guy1 in not only stupid…but incredibly stupid… LOL</p>

<p>and it’s fun, I do it without thinking though.</p>

<p>No, I actually agree 100% with the original poster. I find sarcasm completely unoriginal and lazy as a rhetorical device. </p>

<p>I like to use it when it can be taken both literally and sarcastically…and work. Can’t think up an example.</p>
