Hello,
I am in pretty much the lowest level math (Algebra 1) However i am in algebra 1 high honors. Next year everyone goes into geometry honors. But i have the chance to go into geometry high honors. I know that that is the right choice, but I don’t really see the point since I am already in such stupid classes whats the point in trying to be in geometry high honors? Can someone give me advice

If you can handle the class take it. What year are you? Algebra 1 is the normal freshman year class in my area. Don’t be disappointed in taking it. Everyone has to and some schools don’t give you opportunities in middle school.

im a freshman, but i feel like I’m really behind. When I’m a junior ill be taking the class that some of my fiends are taking right now

You are not really behind. Do not worry about your friends. Do what’s right for you.

Like math? Where do you want to land math-wise by senior year?
Take the high honors–you said you already know that is the right decision for you so that’s a no-brainer.
If you are planning on a career that is math heavy go for calculus by senior year.
IF that is the case, see if you can double up on your math classes. Algebra 2/Geometry. Go to a counselor and explore your options…
If your aspirations do not include heavy math, relax–you’re on a good track already.

thanks everyone! theres just one more thing, i want to go to dartmouth and I worry that I don’t have rigorous enough classes

Take a rigorous course load. Get the best grades you can get. Prep for the SAT and ACT and get great scores on one or both of those. Write a wonderful essay. Get terrific letters of recommendation.

Then hope for the best. Dartmouth accepts about 15% of applicants???meaning 85% do not get accepted. So don’t think of Dartmouth as a sure thing.

You are a freshman…think of the characteristics you want in a college…and go from there. Make sure you pick at least one sure thing that you both like and can afford to attend…and apply there.
