What's unique/different about USC?

What’re some things about USC that make it unique compared to other schools? What makes it different?

The thing we LOVE about USC for our kids is that it’s very compact in that you can get from one spot on campus to most other places within about 10-15 minutes. The campus is very nice as is the climate. We were surprised that the air quality was better than expected as well and has not been setting off my kids’ allergies (both S & D attend).

Like other large schools, you can find pretty much all types of students. We were impressed at the money they willingly disburse to student groups. The rocket club and aviation clubs each have room and money for equipment in the engineering department. Most clubs or special interest groups apply for and receive funding from the school.

The new cinema school is gorgeous! USC is unique in encouraging students to combine diverse fields in getting multiple majors, if that’s of interest to them. Many other schools encourge related majors but discourage unrelated majors. President Sample gave an address during Parents’ Weekend about a highly qualified student who applied & was accepted at all school (including HYP). She was passionate about pre-med but also about playing classical music. All the other schools told her she had to choose but USC said she could do both. She is attending USC with a full-tuition Trustee scholarship.
