Is there any reason why so many Asians seem to be attracted to Xanga?

And why is the stereotype so prevalent?

And why is the stereotype so prevalent?

shugs

i haven’t used xanga in ages. only one of my (chinese) friends does, but that doesn’t mean anything since most of my friends (and school) are asian.

i guess it’s because it’s more…artistic? than myspace? there’s no restriction on javascript, so artists like my sister and anime addicts like the ones at my school can have a themed layout.

unfortunately, many of these layouts are poorly made and simply copy+pasted, leading many people to wonder why they were subscribed to YOURSCREENNAMEHERE when they clicked the subscribe link.

hmm - I remember a time before myspace - the xanga <=> asian stereotype was still there.

but then why wasn’t livejournal associated with aznness? and what of deviantart (which is more artistic)

Xanga sounds like an Asian word. Facebook is reminiscent of some white land out there.

I thought it was an online community for Japanese.

people still use xanga??

Yeah… I keep one just for random rants that make sense only to me. Xanga has been transforming itself to a social networking site though… IDK how effective that has been.

In high school, I considered LJ as the place where all emo kids ranted and Xanga was well, more trendier and cool to have. Most of my friends stopped using Xanga after junior year of high school.

ugh i never caught up with the trends of my classmates. I only caught up with the trends of my internet friends.

Good way to meet asian girls.

Reason Asians use Xanga:

One Asian joined Xanga. He invited all his Asian friends, and the Asian population on Xanga grew larger and larger. Today, more Asians join Xanga because all their friends have Xanga. Xanga could just as easily have been a “black” website, or a “hispanic” website.

These sorts of things are really due to chance more than anything else.
