What is usually an a-/a for a chem 6a class?
Say if the class average on tests is about a 65?

i would say 85-90

aim a little higher than one standard deviation and that guarantees you an A (almost always)

otherwise, 80-85 would be an A, imo…

bleh…this quarter kinda sucks.

goodbye chem6a, goodbye dr. winn, goodbye bio major.

hello…lit major?

yay for living in a box!

sorry for the tangent, by the way.

Being a lit major will be awesome, and is probably what you are more interested in anyhow. :)

thanks for that. =)

I also know I’m going to enjoy it, but can’t help but feel disappointed that I dropped out of a plan I so confidently thought I was going to go through with.

Deep down I know I made the right choice, though. =o)

ugh im the same way…except i havent found anything else so im still in bio
=/

why would failing chem 6a deter you from a biology major?

i got my share of C’s in chem classes and i still held onto my chem major :)

it’s a personal decision that I made after I realized I wasn’t going to do well in the class, but more factors led me to my decision

ah, this thread went in a completely different direction because of my post. sorry!

apple cider, anyone?

aww jv1122 i’m in dr. winn’s class too
the curve was hella huge
a 105/150 was a guaranteed a-

OMG i have an 88.1% in my chem 6b class (professor kummel), whose grading policy is

85-100% => A- to A+
70-84% => B- to B+
etc.

for those of you who have taken lower div chem or might have taken kummel, IS AN 88% AN A? PLEAS4E TELL ME IT IS.!

88 is as high as he’ll make the cutoff. it may drop if the class is especially stupid, but in recent years these freshmen seem to be getting smarter and smarter.
