I recently got invited to the free Torch and Laurel society, a free way to get access to college tips, scholarships etc. The requirements are 3.5 GPA or 27+ ACT and things like that. What effect would this kind of award have on college applications?
None at all. It is a for-profit endeavor and colleges do not use ‘joining/purchasing a membership’ for admissions.
