When I Googled how to find it, it also said there should be a summary report, but I don’t see that anywhere…
I hope someone can give me some advice… my son’s FAFSA, which was submitted on 1/9, was processed today. Due to the signature glitch, his signature needs to be added. BUT there was also an “h” error, which states we need to review the form and fix whatever items have the “h” in a red circle. Problem is, there aren’t any! I have no idea what is wrong, other than the missing signature. Has anyone else had this problem?
Yes, I understand what you are saying - and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the “good news” is not negated (in whole or in part) by CSS!
Unfortunately, you have to just sit tight until FSA reaches the point when they will allow people back into their FAFSAs to make the necessary updates. The target is April 1.
While many people will see a lower SAI, that doesn’t necessarily translate into more aid. There are many who may have a lower SAI but no increase in aid because their school doesn’t meet need.
Processed midday today. Filed 1/8. SAI went down $3k.
Submitted 1/8 , today seeing processed and signature is missing ,have errors on form so make corrections
Nothing is clickable at present
Ah, very good point! Thank you!!!
Ours is finally processed, but there’s no info there on SAi or anything. Just says processed. We likely won’t qualify but shouldn’t it at least say that somewhere?
Mine is the same! I can’t find any info and we definitely qualify for aid (not Pell, but CA state aid, which is determined through FAFSA).
SAI is just a number. How is it converted to $ amount?
SAI is used to determine Pell eligibility, and schools use it to award financial aid.
Everything I have read says SAI can be expressed as a dollar amount.
“According to the U.S. Department of Education, colleges and career schools determine your financial aid need by ‘subtracting your SAI from the cost of attendance’." - Forbes Magazine What The New SAI Means For Your Financial Aid
It is used as a dollar amount when packaging aid. But in and of itself, it has no meaning.
That’s true as far as it goes, but most schools don’t meet financial need.
If total COA is $60k and your SAI is $20k, your “need” is $40k. If the school guarantees full need, they’ll find you $40k.
If they don’t meet full need they might give you $10k in aid, or $5k, or nothing.
First aid package I got this year was from a CSS school where my total out of pocket cost came in at nearly 4x my SAI.
Meanwhile I’ve received two emails tonight (four hours apart) that said they’ve requested my 2022 tax info from the IRS and stay tuned for further updates as the form is processed. Didn’t that happen automatically while we were filling out the form? Why are they sending me emails about it now? Argh.
Ugh. Just hang in there. You’ll know what is what soon.
On your student’s account, click on the box that has the status. It will open up the report and you can view it. The SAI (and lots of other information) is in the report.
All true, of course, and the change from EFC to SAI didn’t change any of those scenarios.
I was just giving a quick reply to the questioning above when I said our SAI went down “$3k.” The Forbes quote was just to show that SAI is a dollar amount.
It will be in the student’s account. My student never got an email or anything, I logged in on my side and saw “processed” so had her log in on her side for the report and SAI.
