Husband and I are having a disagreement. He thinks most people set their thermostats at 65-68 during the winter. Son is looking at renting an apartment, but current tenants are complaining that the heat doesn’t work. The landlord said he will replace the furnace, but refuses to agree to setting it at 70 degrees, which my son has requested. Our home is set at 72, so I don’t think 70 is unreasonable.

65 degrees it is!

Here North of Seattle, ours is set at 68 when we are in the house, it goes to 64 at night and to 61 when we leave the house. The cats have fur, they can handle it.

According to my mom, we have our heat set at “$200 a month.” ;)

That translates to about 60-65 and it is unbearably cold in our house. We would definitely be in the 70-72 range if we didn’t need the extra dollars. My bedroom at home has two exterior walls and two windows, and it’s so cold I can’t even sleep in there. The family room also has two exterior walls and a doorwall so that room isn’t any better, and the cold in that room makes the entire bottom floor of the house cold. My little sister asked for a space heater for christmas.

day 65 to 68
night 54 to 56

65 when we are home and out of bed. 55 while we are gone or sleeping. the master bedroom and bath is always at 55.

5 degree set back at night. And I will break the fingers of anyone in the household who tries to raise it. :D

We usually leave the thermostat at about 65. Sometimes we turn it up to 68-70 for an hour or so in the evening, but then we drop it back down to 65 when we go to sleep.

68 in the daytime; 65 at night.

OK metric up here in the Great White North, so 18 at night and then up to 21 or so during the day.

In the old days when we had money and oil was cheap: 68 day and night.

Now that we are broke and oil costs a fortune: 64 or 65 during the day and 60 or 61 at night.

We have three-zone heating, so the basement, the first floor, and the second floor can be set differently. The only reason we go into the basement (which has a bedroom and living room there) is to do the laundry, so we keep that at about 55.

64 at night, would have been awful in my younger years, but now I sleep a lot better with it cool.

60 at night, 62 during the day. Husband has finally learned to put some clothes and a blanket on while sitting still.

around 70 in living area, 65 bedroom

32 degrees fahrenheit…except when it’s snowing, then we turn it off and go run around outside in our underwear

60 at night, 68 during the day.

65 during the day, off at night

66-68…we don’t change it at night.

S2 lives in a big dumpy rental house (circa 1943) with three other guys in his college town. They try to not turn their heat on at all in the daytime since they are in and out to classes and run it around 64 at night when they are all at home.

67 all the time.

70 when I’m home, 68 when just H is home. I am cold at 70. Night is 64.
