I’d like to learn about travel destinations that are especially friendly for a wheelchair user. The ideal location would have a few sights to see and a few restaurants. I would like to limit the in/out of car to no more than a few times per day, so someplace where you could drop off the chair user, park, and visit the site and dine would be good. I thought I had the travelers talked into taking a cruise but that may be too long or too much (but for easy access to everything, ideal), so now I am thinking of a 2-3 day visit somewhere. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you thought about Charleston, SC? Smaller city, lots of sidewalks as I recall, great restaurants, charm and may be the right size for your time frame. I think this kind of trip could work even better than a cruise. I looked into cruising precisely because we had a family member with mobility issues and it became clear that this option could actually have been dangerous for her due to unpredictable movement.
