When applying to grad schools, will they be able to see if the student was EOP in undergrad? (suny)

i got my acceptance to suny new paltz through eop.
I’m just curious when applying to medical school, will the school see I was EOP in college?
Also, how much extra grant does EOP usually give?
Also does anyone know how Suny New Paltz compare with Hunter College?

Congrats!!

Look I am going to tell you like I tell my students; if it is a toss up between EOP at New Paltz and gen admission at Hunter take the EOP. If you got SEEK at Hunter, visit both and go where you are comfortable ( you may do better being the big fish in the small pond than swimming with the sharks). At Hunter there will be much more competition ( remember they have a stellar nursing program).

You don’t have to marry it, you have to date it for a year. Once you are in you can transfer (depending on your grades and availability to another EOP/HEOP program).

You do realize that opportunity programs cover graduate tuition at SUNY ( this includes upstate and downstate med). It may also apply to the new med school at CUNY (something to really think about)

Don’t look for a lot of money from EOP because there is not a lot to give ( EOP is an academic program not a financial one). On average it is about ~2k. Some schools it is book stipends.

What is EOP?

If it’s not something that would show on a college transcripts, then med schools won’t know.

That said, if it’s an admissions path for those with modest stats, be aware that you’re going to find being premed very challenging. A successful premed typically has a strong HS math and science foundation and strong high school stats.

Stop making threads with the same question/info.

What is EOP?

Anyway…if it’s not something that would show on a college transcript, then med schools won’t know.

However, if that’s a path for students with modest stats, then you’ll need to hit the ground running as a premed. Successful premeds typically have a strong math and science foundation from high school, as well as strong stats.

Please define EOP- never heard of it and am curious.

Agree that your college transcript is what is seen by grad and professional schools. Your admission circumstances are irrelevant- it is your college career that counts.

[SUNY EOP](https://www.suny.edu/attend/academics/eop/) is the state’s Educational Opportunity Program for low income students. I think it offers academic and financial services.

Here’s a good description of California’s EOP program at both the UC’s and CSU’s:
