When colleges rescind application offers

"Harvard’s move to rescind admissions offers to 10 incoming freshmen because of offensive online posts is the most recent, and far-reaching, example of a college taking that step.

The most common reason colleges turn away accepted students is that their grades slip after gaining admission, according to the National Association of College Admissions Counseling. But there are also times when a school deems the student is not a good fit, regardless of grades.
