When colleges say.... do they really MEAN IT?

When colleges say they want either the ACT OR SAT, do they really mean OR? Do they prefer students who have taken both or does it seriously not matter which test you take? Which is easier to study for?

Depends on where the college is - I think colleges on the East Coast prefer the SAT, but also take the ACT. But I don’t know, it probably doesn’t make much of a difference which test you take.

no they are lying to trick you.

Colleges mean everything they say except for the “optional” essays on the application. Those are the only things that aren’t really meant. For everything else, including SAT OR ACT, you’re fine.

^ Sorry if I’m being an idiot here, but I presume that for the optional essays they want you to send them in, am I correct?

Just clarifying because I’m very unfamiliar with US colleges.

Thanks

It is generally a smart idea to do the optional essays.

Haha thanks for the reply! :)

People do get accepted without writing the optional essays though. They don’t put optional as some kind of joke.
