when converting ACT to SAT should i compare percentiles to get a score?

if i want to convert from a ACT english and math score to a SAT CR and M score, do you think i should use the percentiles as means of coverting .

for example if someone scored in the 91st percentile for english, would this convert to a 660-670 CR score?

source of table: <a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

or if thats not the way, can anyone provide a reliable score of converting act english and math scores?

btw do i use act english or act english/writting when converting to sat sar cr?

There are many SAT - ACT conversion tables available. Here is a link to the one on the ACT site: [ACT-SAT Concordance](The ACT Test for Students | ACT)

yeah ive seen that but the problem i had understanding was how to convert my act ENGLISH to sat cr.

im applying to georgia tech and virginia tech and both school convert the ACT to SAT scores in hopes of helping you out

They use the CR percentiles on the SAT to match with the English; SAT to ACT math; and SAT writing to the ACT writing using a concordance table.

I think they use percentiles for math and english from the total cumulative percentiles of ACT tests over several years because my english conversion was higher than the current percentile conversion.

huuh? sorry im confused from your post

are u trying to say that my ACT percentile gets matched up with the same percentile on the SAT? and that percentiles new score is my “converted” ACT score?

Yes. 10char

I got a 30 E, 28 M, and 31 E/W on the ACT, and according to this website ([ACT Score Information: National Ranks for Test Scores and Composite Score](<a href=“ACT Test Scores | ACT Scoring | ACT”>ACT Test Scores | ACT Scoring | ACT)), my percentiles are 93, 91, 98 respectively. and then using this website (<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools), my “converted scores” are 680+680+740. is this right?

31 english is ~680, 28 in math is ~670 and a 31 in writing is 690 according to this table which gaTech uses: [url=<a href=“http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/]ACT-SAT”>The ACT Test for Students | ACT]ACT-SAT Concordance/url

It would not be correct to convert ACT english into SAT CR. They are not concordable. The best corellation is between ACT English + ACT Reading and SAT CR.
However, most colleges convert ACT into SAT CR in a different way.
They convert ACT into SAT M + SAT CR, then they convert ACT Math into SAT Math, and then they get your SAT CR as (SAT M + SAT CR converted from ACT) - SAT M (converted from ACT M)

Info is not enough to convert. What is your ACT composite?
28 ACT M ~ 660-670 SAT M
31 ACT E/W ~ 690-710 SAT W
But we cannot get your SAT CR without ACT composite, sorry.

That is what they almost never do.

my composite is a 28

composite 28 corresponds to 1260-1310 SAT M + CR. Subtract 660-670 SAT M. So, SAT CR should be about 600-640, which is 620 in average.

Georgia Tech doesn’t use the composite score.

Right, Georgia Tech is one of those few who concords ACT English to SAT CR (even though they are not concordable). ACT 30 E corresponds to 660-670 SAT CR according to Georgia tech rules.
