My two kids are 7 years apart. I started reading CC many years ago when my older son was entering hs. I took a break after he was admitted to his dream school, that we found with help from great folks on CC - in particular the parent’s forum. My youngest is now a sophomore in hs and I have returned to CC - different kid, different interests and most likely a different dream school. One thing that I’ve noticed is that the Parent’s Forum has changed - it seems to be a forum with many private chat rooms - unwieldy threads begun years ago - take up prime real estate on the first few pages of the forum. I guess it works well with people who have made friends on the board and use these threads as a spot to chat about life events, but the forum is not as useful as it used to be in finding out info on college admissions…I’m sure you’re all nice people but I don’t need to know what you’re having for dinner. Newcomers may not realize just how useful the Parent’s Forum used to be, but I’m considering it a major loss.
