I was just wondering for the people who have already gotten into competitive colleges and did not have a 4.0 GPA-

How many, and WHEN did you get those Bs? As in Freshman, Sophomore, Junior year? I’ve been noticing a lot of threads about freshman grades (and for me, junior grades), so I think it would be beneficial (for me at least) to see examples of non-4.0s who got in to competitive colleges. If anyone wants to answer, please list the schools that you got into, the number of Bs, and the year that you got them.

I got pretty horrible grades freshman and sophomore year (and not just Bs), but I got into Grinnell because I had great grades junior/senior year and tested well. I’d say your grades junior year are definitely more important than freshman/sophomore, and your midyear grades senior year might be the most important of all.

grade: what will you do with this information? Cross off a ton of colleges b/c you feel you’ll be out of the running? And how many Bs did you get in your Jr year? One B- in AP Calc but the rest were As for the entirety of your HS career. And you have a 2350 SAT.

I think you should seriously relax, focus on knocking out great grades your SR year and make a wide list of college choices.

Look. No one has a good shot at top schools. Put your best foot fwd and move along.
