Some of the forms I sent in a while ago are still not processed. When should I start panicking/start sending in copies?

Is “a while ago” last week or last month? If it’s the latter, I would look into it and see what’s up. It takes a while to process all of the incoming mail and then update the status of the items on the internet, so it won’t show as “received” the moment it arrives on Olin’s campus.

Remember, if the admissions office doesn’t have a certain part of your application, they’ll definitely contact you to find out where it is. We won’t throw out your application just for one missing piece :)

“Hi de ho, here I go, lookin’ for my missing piece…”

~KE

I’m posting something that I emailed to all of our applicants the other day - I think it helps clarify some things…

Allison

mathwiz, I wouldnt worry. My page was just updated with everything today and I sent mine in on Dec. 13. They have a lot going on right now so there really no need to worry until they contact you.

Yeah, I forgot to submit my essay… They’ll make sure they tell you if something is out of place.

Molly, Olin '09

I supposedly didn’t send in my affadavit. I just faxed it in right now, but I could have sworn I’d included it in the big envelope I’d sent containing all my stuff.

Well, Olin called one of my recommenders because he forgot to send the rec. in on school letterhead, so they’re definitely in the process of making sure you’ve got everything.

I also got back to back emails from them, one stating I had missing things and the other stating I had everything turned in. I’m guessing because I got the latter second that means its complete, the website doesn’t say I’m missing anything.

Either way, don’t worry. Pretty soon (early feb) we’ll be getting cw decisions in. crosses fingers

Just for the record, there can be a lag between when you get your confirmation that your application is complete and when the website doesn’t show you missing anything. The credentials are, at this point, being updated and then filed. Once they are put in, if the computer shows that the student should be complete, the folder is pulled out to double check that they are, in fact, complete. After this is done is when you’ll get confirmation, but it’s not always in the same day.

Put it this way: 1033 applications this year means that there is a ton of recommendation letters, first marking grades, supporting materials, etc., all that have to be dated, sorted, and updated on the website by our relatively small Office of Admission. I’m sure they’re working as hard as they can so that if they have a problem, they will notify you.
