So, I’m curious…for AMCAS, how long after verification can one realistically expect to receive an interview? In other words, when do the II wane/taper off, and when are applicants more or less in a holding pattern simply awaiting decisions?

Don’t know about TX schools–which have their own processes with its own set of rules.

It all depends if the school has rolling or non-rolling admissions. Rolling schools will send out the bulk of the II before the end of October, then when they move to non-rolling status will send out more in dribs and drabs all the way until March/April. Non-rolling schools will send out IIs up until about a month before they announce admission decisions in the spring.

D1 had an II as late as mid-April (for a seat, not a waitlist slot) during her cycle. But for the most part, IIRC, she was done with interviewing by early January. D2’s BFF had about 75% of her interviews done by early January, then got 2 more in late spring last cycle. (She got acceptances for her late IIs, but got waitlisted for her early IIs–go figure!)

I think the Cal state schools start trickling in around October or later. Ivies may go on for a bit until December?

I am thinking JC40’s kid is done with Texas IIs.

Two examples, UCLA and Washington U in STL haven’t even started sending out interview invites.

SDN is good for this type of monitoring; save a list of the colleges of interest and check them for II/decision action.

D has received, I presume, all the TX II she’s going to get (6). She was verified later (maybe???) then some others for AMCAS and has received II for some of those as well, but I simply didn’t know when the emails typically stop coming and applicants begin to hear crickets. WOWM, I’m not even sure which of her schools are rolling and which aren’t. It sounds like if most are rolling, the likelihood of receiving an II will dwindle dramatically after October, right?

How many is she still waiting on?

I think some don’t respond either way for whatever reason.

I was wondering the same thing. DD received II’s from the some of the higher ranked schools on her list but then had a lull for a short time. She had only heard from one in state school (not public) and looked on that other site and started to freak out. Seems alot of the schools she hadnt heard from had been giving out II’s to applicants who were complete after she was and she started to panic for a moment. She got 2 more II’s today, including our state public, so I think applicants should not think they got passed up just from info on the other site. I am hoping it is still early and everyone has to give it some time.

Or as I tell D2 when she gets antsy: any day there’s not a rejection in her inbox is good day.

LOL, WOWM! I agree! D has received one rejection so far. Looking at the odds for OOS school kids for this school, she probably never should have applied.

texaspg…she has one TX public that hasn’t sent her an II, and I’m predicting she probably won’t get one. She has numerous AMCAS schools she hasn’t heard from yet. Our hope is that she gets one acceptance…not picky where…just one somewhere. :)

I think Texas publics can’t tell you until Nov 15th unless you applied ED or something. Everyone calls in Texas eventually. :p

I’m not sure what you mean.

TX Public/% of Applicants Receiving Interviews
UTSW – 22.8%
UT Houston – 27.3%
UTHSCSA – 25%
A&M – 25.8%
UTMB – 26.9%
TTU – 23.5%
TTU Foster – 20%

If you get 6 you get the 7th because you are a strong candidate. If you are only getting 2 or 3, then everyone calls is already broken.

The percentages are close. I am surprised TTU Foster is the lowest but they may be deciding who wont show up.

So when do rolling admit schools switch to non-rolling? End of November? December? And, do all rolling admit eventually convert to non-rolling? Man, this is alot to keep track of.

SDN is definitely the resource for this.

As an MSTP applicant, I can say that all my IIs came by October and all my interviews happened before Christmas season.

I monitor school specific threads on SDN regularly for my son. There are still a LOT of invites to go. A majority of AMCAS schools haven’t even extended 25% of their invites yet. UMich, the most aggressive of rolling schools, has extended ~250 of their annual ~550 invites. Many schools haven’t even started extending RD invites. One of our state schools is done with ED stuff just a few days ago. AMCAS processing delays have definitely been a factor in this cycle.
