when does stanford send likely letters? who gets them - do all intel sts finalists have high probability of getting them?

I’ve heard from some friends that all finalists get a likely, but who knows if it’s actually true.

^^not true…“all” finalists do not get a likely…but they have a higher probability than semi-finalists of getting one…

…and contrary to popular belief…Stanford does not “prefer” STEM or engineering/CS students…but…what they do look for are students who are the “best” at what they do…whether they excel in art, music, acting, writing, humanities, community service, leadership…and yes, STEM fields and sports…

…and by the way…most students do not arrive on campus thinking they want to become a technology entrepreneur…

…and to the OP’s question. Stanford usually sends them out to a very select few around mid February to early March…and in recent past years some Questbridge applicants with the highest credentials have received “likely letters” along with the other highly sought after applicants…

thanks for the responses! any other perspectives on this topic?

A kid from my school recently got a letter that stated “you will be offered admission to the Stanford Class of 2018” I’m not sure if that’s the likely letter, but, there you go.
