Do they do it before the financial aid is posted into your account? Or is it possible that they can do it afterwards?

Not every student is subject to verification. But maybe those who receive PELL grants are?

They can do verification any time prior to awarding the money.

It varies from school to school, case to case. As Madison says, not every student gets verifed. We got verifications just for PLUS one time and what they asked about had nothing to do with qualifying for that loan, just part of the standard verification process at that school. When I asked, they said all first year out of staters are automatically verified. The next year when son took an unsub loan, no verification at all was done.

I thought the OP was asking about the time frame for verification, not the reasons. Maybe he/she could clarify!
