When do they assign interviews?

For those of you who’ve had interviews, how long after you submitted did you hear from your interviewer? My son just submitted by the deadline.

What’s the deadline for receiving an interview? I know for Duke, you had to submit the app by Dec 10th. Is there something like this for Princeton too?

I was contacted yesterday. But I think I’m a lucky case. Apparently (despite it being Iowa), there are a lot of alumni around where I live, hahah.

^ bump this thread

mihan, you were contacted by alumni directly? through email?

I was also contacted yesterday through email.

I applied to Princeton last year. You do get contacted directly by an alumni. This usually occurs by email but if you have a very friendly alumni then you will get a call. I think it was about 2-3 weeks after I submitted my application that I received my interview e-mail but I’m from NJ so there were probably a lot of applicants waiting for interviews. I would say depending on where you are it’ll probably be another week or two before you get contacted, but of course it could be sooner depending on how many people applied in your area versus how many alumni they have in that area. Also, an interview is not guaranteed to everyone and if you are in an area where it is too difficult to meet with an alumni then you probably will not get contacted for an interview. However, Princeton does do its best to try and give everyone an interview so I wouldn’t worry about it too much, I just wanted to let you know all the possibilities. I wish your son the best of luck during the admissions process.

A word to all who are waiting for an interview:

Please be sure to check the email and phone number (messages) that you listed on your application. This is how the interviewer will contact you. I know there have been cases where the email is no longer being used by the student, although still active or the phone is no longer frequently used, but still active.

My S received an email from the alum a week after he submitted the online common app and supp, despite it being the Christmas - New Year’s Day week. But apparently, there also are many Princeton alums in our area

I think it all depends, last year my D did not get an interview until near March, and the alum called her. She had applied back in August. On the other hand, the school may not have felt any pressure to move early in her case as she had an athletic likely letter already.

it’s weird - i got contacted 3 weeks ago for the interview by phone and email. (I had submitted my app on the fourth of December)… So ya it was very soon after i sent in my app

But my friend … also from my school – just got contacted like a few days ago - not sure when she sent in her app… And also my other friend, also from my school (both friends live in the same general area too) sent in his app way before me, and still hasn’t gotten contacted for one either… soooo - ya

I submitted my app the 1st, and got contacted this morning by email. :)
