When do we need to get back to UIUC ?

<p>Can someone tell me by when one would need to get back to UIUC after a priority application adjudication is done by the university (app sent on 11-15)?</p>

<p>I am not quite understanding the “check back?”

**There are two admissions notification dates: December 14, 2007 and February 15, 2008.</p>

<p>If you apply during the Priority Filing Period, you can view your admission status online on December 14, 2007. Please note that the online decision is not final until you receive official notification of our decision through postal mail. In some cases an applicant will be deferred, and a final admission decision will not be sent until the second notification date of February 15. Should this be the case, there is no need for you to submit a program change request, as you are still being reviewed for your requested program. If your application becomes complete after November 10, or you are deferred on December 14, you will be notified of a decision on February 15.</p>

<p>thanks for the reply,hazmat. Let me clarify what I need to know: </p>

<p>I apply early to UIUC.</p>

<p>OK. they tell me their answer on either of two dates, 12-14, or 02-15.</p>

<p>If their answer is YES, how long do I have to respond to UIUC’s YES? Until 5/1, or earlier?</p>

<p>By May 1 every year unless it falls on a weekend in which case on the Monday that comes after May 1. However, after that admit decision you will also get an application for housing which you can submit and it requires a a deposit (usually $100). You should submit that because housing requests are met in the order in which housing applications are received and those who wait until May 1 or after to send in the housing app have a risk of not getting their choice of dorm and possibly ending up in temporary dorms. If system is as in the past, you can get that deposit back if you cancel the housing app by May 1.</p>

<p>So if you applied to N schools, since you might want to ‘spread the risk’ on the assumption that you do not want to put ‘all your eggs in the same basket’,</p>

<p>then for every YES you get back, one should also continue with keeping the ball in the air with a housing committment / deposit, else, if you decide to actually go to the college, while you ‘got in’ you’d be stuck on a cot somewhere.</p>
