Not sure on the exact date but for me, I applied the April/May right before high school ended. Not sure if you could apply now and just wait for Fall to come though. :o

go to your local CC, look for ANY special programs that will grant you priority registration, then wait for Fall 12 schedules to come out which should be around may with your class schedule planned in advance. getting classes at CC is vicious these days so you need to be on top of things.

Yes, it is, I am in EOPS at my college. Basically if you qualify for financial aid you’re in at EOPS. Programs such as EOPS, Veterans, Honors, and Disabled Student Services grant you priority registration at most colleges. if you don’t have any of these and you’re a new student you will be SOL

Honors program is simple enough to get into at most community colleges. You can either get in from your 1st semester if you have a decent high school GPA or after finishing 1 semester of full-time classes with a ≥3.25-ish GPA.

Most colleges also require 1-2 letters of recommendation. Just get them from whoever you can, you should be fine as long as your recommenders don’t accuse you of being a serial killer.

I want to start 1st semester on the honors program. My stats are good enough for admission to top schools but I want to save money for my parents I will most likely be castigated by my counselor and friends but I don’t really care.

Anyway, what happens if you have ALOT of AP credit? I’m talking like 13 by the end of high school lol

I love community! I didn’t know they filmed it at your school. I saw your stats and you are awesome. I also want to do econ in the future.

Why are you not applying to UC Berkeley Haas? Are you applying to privates out of state as well?

Like I’m thinking of aiming as high as northwestern, uchicago, ucb haas etc. because i want to do I-Banking and being at a target school is critical.

Yeah I’m applying to USC. I’m not too interested in out-of-state…I’d rather stay in cali. I didn’t apply to Haas because I think my lack of work experience would make Econ a safer bet.

i’m not too familiar with how the transfer process to places like northwestern/chicago works, because the CC system is pretty much dedicated to UC/CSU transfers, but it can be done. students from my community college have transferred to Columbia and UPenn. i would speak to an honors counselor at your college and see what kinds of “top” schools your CC has connections to.

Also, do you mean that to be competitive for Haas one must have substantial work experience? I thought that if you get rejected from Haas you just go to CAS Econ…

I don’t know how overcrowded the CCs you’re applying to are, but if you want to get classes, then I’d advise you to apply now for Winter/Spring 2012!

Take some night classes or a night class for the Winter/Spring semester and take some courses during the summer so you can have some priority for Fall 2012.
