Is there an exact date?

Scores are sent to high schools, usually around December 1st. It is then up to the schools to distribute the score reports. Some will do so immediately, some will hold on to them until January, February, or even later.

My school promised to return them the day before winter break.

i GOT A 198. Is that good?

198 is good but not great nor is it ideal. Scoring 198 means you missed 200 by 2 points, and usually the cutoff for National Merit Commended is around 200 or slightly higher.

Scoring a 220+ would get you National Merit in most states and that is the most ideal score for someone to get.
