When do you need to have taken the SAT for NMSC?

<p>Jarn - this is from the National Merit site for those who took the test Fall of 2005… I imagine the rules for those who took the test Fall 2006 would have similar requirements:</p>

<p>Authorized SAT administrations
Scores earned on national administrations of the current SAT Reasoning Test from March 2005 through
December 2006 will be considered by NMSC. Scores earned on national administrations of both the old
SAT and the old SAT Subject Test in Writing from October 2004 through January 2005 will also be considered.
NMSC will not accept scores from a national SAT administration taken earlier than October 2004
or later than December 2006. Your verbal/critical reading score, math score, and writing multiple-choice
subscore will be the basis for determining whether you meet the confirming score requirement.
• If you have not yet taken the SAT
Register NOW to take the SAT on one of the following dates in 2006 and request scores be sent to NMSC
(code 0085):
• October 14 • November 4 • December 2
We urge you to take the SAT no later than November 4 and not wait until December.</p>

<p>I don’t know if I made Semi this year (school hasn’t started yet for me) but I think I will. My score of 221 was higher than Minnesota’s cutoff last year by about five points and it looks like most states have a lower cutoff this year than last year.</p>

<p>do they look at a “one sitting” score or take the best subscores out of the 2 times you have taken it?</p>

<p>From what I have read on these forums, it really depends on the school. Some schools look just at your best score in each subject area, but apparently others don’t.</p>

<p>Shutterbug - If speaking about two PSAT sittings (one soph, one junior), they only look at the junior. As for multiple SAT sittings, thats probably worth looking more in depth either at the NMSC website or maybe giving their educational services a call.</p>

<p>What does “confirming your PSAT score” mean? If I got an 80 on PSAT math do I have to get an 800 on SAT math to “confirm my score”?</p>
