This is not about getting college credit; that’s not as important for DS25. I know a 3 is only a passing score. However, DS is not a great standardized test taker, but they received 3s on all three APs they took this year. That is a HUGE achievement for them. They are applying TO to most schools. Would some schools want to see the 3? How do you decide where to send and where not to send? TIA
If the college gives credit for 3’s, I’d include on an application, with the possible exception of T20s like UCLA that give credit for 3’s. Otherwise, I’d omit.
I generally recommend self reporting 3 only if the school gives credit for that score. Note that many counselors would not recommend that, there’s not much agreement on this topic. Don’t pay to send AP scores to schools in the application process.
Have you asked your S’s HS counselor for their opinion?
Unfortunately, DS goes to a big urban high school and their GC is not helpful on this topic. Very few kids get 3+ on APs or even take them.
Sorry to hear. I still recommend only sending a 3 to schools that give credit for a 3.
