When do you send AP scores

New frosh are supposed to start registering for classes on July 18. As long as any AP scores arrive so that you know them before then, you will be able to make class choices in context of the placement recommended for those AP scores.

From another post:

Of the pending AP scores:

  • AP calculus: 3 on AB or BC is considered equivalent to Math 1A, and 5 on BC is considered equivalent to Math 1A and 1B, for most L&S majors that follow the math department recommendations. However, most biology majors are recommended to take Math 10A and 10B instead. Molecular and cell biology has specific recommendations for students who take math courses other than 10A and 10B (for example, because they are doing a second major that requires math courses beginning with 1A and 1B).
  • AP physics: Neither molecular and cell biology nor integrative biology accept AP physics credit to fulfill their lower division requirements.
  • AP English language: score of 4 or 5 fulfills the reading and composition A requirement, but that is already fulfilled by the previous AP English literature score of 4. Student needs to take a reading and composition B course.
  • AP government (which one?): does not fulfill any L&S requirement or biology major requirement, although if the student has not already fulfilled the American Institutions requirement, AP US government score of 3 will do that.
  • AP economics: does not fulfill any L&S requirement or biology major requirement, although if the student has 4 scores on both AP economics exams, that fulfills Economics 1 as a prerequisite for more advanced economics courses.

It mostly looks like the pending AP scores are unlikely to matter in course selection, if the student is aiming for a single major in MCB or IB, since the suggested placement for Math (10A), reading and composition (B course), physics, chemistry, and biology is unchanged based on the pending AP scores.
