When do you send SAT scores?

Do you need to send official scores or can you just send report?

In case it’s school specific:
Rutgers
Washington and Lee
Bentley
Bryant
Trinity CT
Temple
St. Joseph’s Philly
Manhattan College

If the school allows you to just report scores then do that. Most schools seem to allow it and the requirement will be included on the common app. I made the mistake of sending official scores to every school my child applied to, which cost me over $300. The smarter thing would have been to self report scores and then send official scores only to the school that she decided to attend.

So it asks says in the Common App if you can or cannot self-report? That would be awesome and prevent her from having to contact each school. This application process is insanely expensive with Manhattan Collebe charging $75 when they are admit almost 90%!

If you search the school’s admission page, they usually say if they allow you to self report (most schools do allow you to self report).

Check each school’s requirement on their website, they will have a section dedicated to first year applicant requirements.

Many schools these days will allow you to enter your SAT or ACT scores on your application, and if you are accepted and you choose to enroll, at that point you must submit officially to confirm the accuracy of your self reported score.

At that point, schools will often accept your SAT or ACT scores if reported on your transcript by your high school registrar, rather than requiring them to be sent from the Board. In that case you coordinate with your registrar, who should have automatic access to your student’s score reports. (Doing it this way is no cost to you!)

Whether or not you choose to have the scores on the transcript during the application process is up to you. People will often choose to leave them off on the official transcript, especially as you may decide to submit to some schools but not others, and some schools may “super score” without wanting to see every score, whereas other schools will require all scores from all tests if you’re submitting a score at all. So determine your approach on a case by case basis.
