When do yours go back?

I’m starting to get a tad depressed. He was home on May 6th and I thought the summer would be nice and long…ha! You’d think I’d learn, he’s not my first. He moves in 3.5 weeks. I know that’s still a lot of time, but it’s not. It’s just been wonderful seeing him every single day, even if it’s just 5 minutes…and sometimes it was just that. He’s so cheerful to be around. I’m thankful he’s close, and can see him on occasion…but it’s still not the same as every day.

My S is easygoing like that, too. He leaves in 30 days and I feel the same as you. S is my last, so it’s the end of an era. I’m glad he isn’t too far and I hope to visit on occasion, too.

My 21-year-old goes to Beirut on August 15, and I’m counting the days. It’s time! He’s antsy and driving me nuts. We leave on August 24 to take my daughter (my baby!) to college in Pennsylvania. She’s cheerful, too, so I’ll miss her, but I’m looking very much forward to having an empty nest. The nest has been full way longer than it should have been due to illness and gap years.

I’m having the same feelings, conmama. Our youngest graduated in May, and has been at home this summer for the first time since the summer after his freshman year. He is moving to his grad school town on August 1st, and he is unlikely to live close to home again.

The oldest is living at home so I won’t be full on empty nest. D16 has been gone for the last month for a summer program. We pick her up next Saturday. She will be home for 13 days and then goes back for the start of her orientation. We won’t see her again until October.

We have a little more than a month left before daughter goes back. I don’t see her much more than in passing most days. I suspect she will not be home as frequently this school year as she was last, which is a good thing for her.

I’m still waiting for definitive dates from both kids. I’ve told them that they really should let me know if they expect transportation.
