When does estimated FA become official??

Transfer student CCC –> UC University

Been accepted to a few UC schools and they all have pretty detail estimated financial aid break downs. Just curious if anyone knows when these estimations will become official? I guess in other words… when will our march 2nd FAFSA’s become fully processed and all of this financial aid uncerntity finally clears up?

Anyone/everyone else in the same boat?

Appreciate any knowledgeable response.

I think only after you SIR

What does SIR stand for exactly? That is when I accept the admissions offer?

Statement of Intent to Register

Oh okay, thanks.

Can anyone verify if this is true? Financial Aid only become definitive once Statement of Intent to Register is sent in?

i dont believe thats exactly correct. you must also send in more official documents to the financial aid office after you SIR. when you hear back then i believe that will be your official amount

What navymike said is pretty much how it goes. Think of it this way: the estimated FA is what the college would give you IF what you’re saying is true. After making sure you provided all the correct information by seeing official documents and tax returns and such, they make it official.

Oh alright, good deal.

Makes a lot of sense. Thanks everyone.
