When does hope die during the admissions process ?

When does hope die during the admissions process ?

Although I have already been accepted and have no intention of attending USF, a friend of mine at school has had the same message listed on his status page for the last four months. According to him, nothing has changed and nothing has been updated. When does USF start rejecting those weaker applicants with a flat-out rejection ?
His general stats are 3.1 & 1640 SAT.

His USF status page::::::

Thank you for applying for admission to the University of South Florida. We have not reached our final decision regarding your admission candidacy.

On your application for admission you designated your home campus to be: Tampa.

For the purposes of calculating your fees and tuition our office has determined that your 1. residency status is: Florida Resident.

Admissions correspondence will be sent via U.S. postal mail to your permanent address. Electronic communications will be sent to your Admissions Email Address listed on OASIS. If an Admissions Email Address is not listed, email will be sent to your designated Financial Aid email address. If a Financial Aid email address is not designated, your USF email address will be used. Currently, we have your Admissions Email Address listed as: XXXXXXXXXX***********. To ensure that you receive Admissions correspondence, update your postal and email addresses on OASIS .
Please check the list below to ensure you have submitted all of the required credentials.
Credentials that have been received are highlighted with a green background and display the receipt date.

If you have applied as a freshman or lower level transfer, you are required to submit an SAT score that includes the essay portion of the test or an ACT score that includes the optional writing score.

If your friend is on the edge, they have to read all those essays and resumes he submitted, which may take a while. My application got accepted in around 24 hours, so I don’t know about four months.

if you have “no intention of going” you should let them know so your spot can be given to someone who would actually appreciate it… honestly, you make such condescending comments and there’s no reason for them.

would it have been so hard to say “my friend has been waiting, here are his stats,” blah blah blah…? No, instead you have to take a dig at USF yet AGAIN… why do you even come on this board?? you clearly hate USF… fine, so stop wasting ur time here! lol

I’m in roughly the same boat but I just noticed today, that, under all the dates that they received your SAT scores, transcript, etc… , it says

“Your application is currently under review. A final decision will be made shortly and you will be notified by mail of the decision.”

I’m pretty sure it never said that before.

Edit: on Thursday, January 12th, it will have been 3 months since I applied.

Just tell your friend to call USF and ask. They’re very helpful; I don’t know why everyone has such a taboo about calling and asking. I’ve had to call each college I’ve applied to (3) at least once, and every time they’ve answered my questions graciously
