My D was admitted on Dec.16th and we accepted and paid our deposit a few days later. When do they usually let them know when to go for New Student Orientation? She is going to the college of health & human development…if that makes a difference.
From this link (follow the Accepted Students Timeline):
http://admissions.psu.edu/info/accepted/dates/
“Orientation
• New Student Orientation begins for
those who have paid their enrollment
deposits. You will receive an
email with information about online
testing. The orientation, required
for all first-year students, includes
testing, advising, scheduling, and
a campus visit. Students will also
receive a Penn State Access
Account.”
The sooner your D completes the online testing, the sooner she will be scheduled for Orientation. (It says you’ll receive email in April, but I thought its was earlier last year.) BTW, my D was able to schedule prior to going to Orientation which gave her a huge advantage in class selection. Don’t know if it was a fluke, but worth checking out.
The placement tests are not available to take until March 1, FYI.
Thanks!
I believe the New Student Orientation days do not start until classes are finished which is May 8th this year. Once you’ve paid your deposit you will get a post card in the mail with your NSO date.
If I recall correctly the orientations do not start until after the end of the PSU school year, as stated above. They have the kids stay one night in the dorms so they need them to be empty. I think you have to do the online placement tests before you get a date.
Yes @jul247 is correct. I was incorrect. You have to take the placement tests before get your NSO date because you pick you classes at NSO.
you also get to pick your NSO date this year instead of it being assigned
@evertona Wow…I did not hear that. Where did you hear/read that? Thx
