When exactly should I sign for loans?

I already committed to a school, and I am accepting the loans from my financial aid package, but I also need a third party loan as well, from a bank or of the sort, when should I be signing for these?

bump

Are you saying a bank has agreed to lend you the funds? Discuss this with them. Tell them when you need the disbursement.

You need to find a bank that will give you that loan. do you have a parent who will co-sign that loan? how much will that extra loan be?

"'After graduation, I will be a freshman entering Ithaca College to pursue a degree in Cinematography and Photography. From since I was around 12, to around a few weeks ago, I thought I wanted to learn film, and for that to be my career choice. Reason being that I was always fascinated by the techniques of camerawork and post-production in film. I decided to attend Ithaca College because I have read that their communications program is fantastic and very well known.

However, after committing to the school, I am beginning to worry about the price more and more. I will be around $50k in student loans debt after my 4 years, so I will need to land a decent paying job right away, which is stressful considering the low demand of film-makers.""

Your family income is lowish with an efc of about 5600 and your career goal is risky, so the risk of borrowing is too great.

How much did YOU get in school loans this year…and how much are you borrowing with a 3rd party.

“students with financial need should always exhaust their federal options before looking to private loans”

^^^^

"“I already committed to a school, and I am accepting the loans from my financial aid package, but I also need a third party loan as well, from a bank or of the sort, when should I be signing for these?”"

the student is already exhausting fed loans options. the student is looking into private loans to cover gap and/or EFC

^Perhaps his / her parents could take out the Direct PLUS loans. See https://studentaid.ed.gov/types/loans/plus

My school just recently requested me to send them our W-2s, some confirmation forms I had to sign and give back, and complete the IRS Data tool to proceed with my financial aid process.

Do I wait until this is all finished before I contact private loaners/PLUS loan?

You should send those it first. You don’t need to pay anything until Fall. For my D’s school, they requested the same documents when they issued the estimated financial aid package in March. The deadline for those document was June 1. We submitted them in the end of April and we got a revised official FA package last week with more grant in it (although no data change) and eliminated the subsidized loan. So there is a possibility to have your FA package changed after the final verification process.

YOU cant do Plus…that is a parent loan. you will also need your parents for private loans. what are your parents saying about taking out these loans that they will be responsible for???

You are really nonresponsive to the questions asked of you. If you need Plus you need to let them know now. If you have to have private loan you need to no if you qualify now. Otherwise you won’t be going.
