When I am an old woman.................

…I WILL eat bread!!!

I used to say when I got to the age I am now, I was going to start smoking and drinking. Ha! Now I have to toe the line to try to stay healthy for the next 20 years!

I will spend my time tending to the nature in my yard…birds mostly , flowers too. I want to have a lot of time to volunteer to causes that I feel passion for. I want to be able to see my future grandchildren and become a big part of their lives…and continue to cook :)

I will only spend time with people I enjoy or can learn from.

Which is, actually, just about everyone.

I will sit on the beach and paint seascapes.

I hope that I will be an old woman.

I will cut my hair very short and let it be as gray and frizzy as it pleases.

I will still be running marathons!

I hope that when I decide I am an “old woman” , that my age is 80+. The term is something I actually will fight NOT to be - its one of my quirks. My mom is turning 81 and has really never seemed like an old woman to me. She is a older “young” woman - THAT’S what I want to be!!!

I just pray that DH is an old man beside me. So that I can still pinch his cute tush.

How old do you have to be to be considered an old woman?

A couple of weeks ago I pulled into a parking space and noticed it had a sign that said,“Reserved for Seniors.” As I was hurriedly backing out I thought, “Wait a minute…” (I’m 63.) But I kept backing up.

@Wellspring, I’d have grabbed that spot! I’m 62 and I happily accept my senior discount at Dunkin Donuts and just booked an Amtrak ticket with a 15% senior discount. (I comfort myself by thinking that the term is meant as it’s used in “senior vice president”–indicating experience, wisdom and advancement. ) If someone wants to grant me a privilege based on my birthdate, I’m not going to talk them out of it. Heck, there have to be some compensations for the wrinkles, varicose veins, receding gums and other indignities of age!

I’ll start putting out yard art. Three garden gnomes just appeared in my backyard.

I will still be riding my Razor scooter

I will still be singing as loud as I can to rock songs on the radio- in the car, in public, and not care one bit who is listening.

"…I WILL eat bread!!!"
-Sorry to dissapoint, it maybe a plan, but your GI most likely than not will not be able to handle it. Talking from experience. The older yu get, the less of it you will be able to afford bread, pasta, rice, unless you want a great discomfort and consume prunes, which also will produce a great discomfort but with positive results. Well, some are OK with pills, powder, whatever, I do not like to put chemicals into my body, and more so that regular food already contains plenty of them.
I never smoked, cannot comment on that. But drinking is never a problem, part of my culture so to speak, on a daily basis, why not? I have never been drunk though, cannot comment on that. But I will try anything. If I do not like taste, I adjust it to my liking by adding honey and/or juice. Yummy!!! We keep tons of alcohol at home.

MiamiDAP, Now you share the secret for your perpetual happiness! :">

Bookworm,
Did you mean alcohol consumption? If so, here are couple more - lots of chocolate (85%) and exercise on a daily basis. These 3 definitely make me happy and totally stress free. Actually, I have no idea what people mean when they mention stress. What is it, how does it feel?

… I hope to be living in peace, having learned from and forgiven myself for past mistakes, having let go of old grudges and grievances and having learned to live in the moment and be happy with what I have. A tall order, so that’s why I’ve already started on it. I’ll never achieve anything like perfection, but the journey will be a positve one.

I hope to be as crazy, as law-breaking, and as sassy as I am now (or even more…).

It’s never too late to find out. ;)
