[Penn State University - Office for Summer Session](Summer Session)

Penn State often accepts borderline students into their summer session if they request to be considered. This year had the highest number of students ever doing summer session. Its required of you to go if thats what you are accepted as. Although you only have to go once, the summer before freshman year, its basically a whole separate semesters worth of tuition and room and board. Students who go to summer session will then flow into the fall semester as everyone else. You earn something like 12 credits during a summer session.

On the application it asks if you’d like to be considered for Summer at University Park as your start date, if Fall University park is your first option and isn’t able to be offered to you. All you do is check the box, and you’ll be considered for it automatically.

If you get accepted for summer, occasionally you can change it to fall if you call the admissions office later, as maybe some spots opened up. However, if you have a declared major in the business school or engineering school, its not as likely you’d be able to do that.
