When is a good time to begin taking practice tests routinely?

I’ve currently taken 3 practice tests and 1 practice PSAT, spread apart over about 7 months. I’m a junior in the fall.

My latest score.

Math~560
Reading~660
Writing:640

I’ve finished Gruber’s math workbook very recently and feel a little more confident in math. I’ve also done Barron’s Writing review section. I want to complete Princeton’s Cracking the SAT 2010 and practice sections(4-5 at a time) in Barron’s. Once I’ve completed that, I will hit the 11 Princeton practice tests, and then Collegboard’s offical blue book. Is this a decent study plan?

My goals:

Math~700
Reading~700
Writing~700

I want to take the test once I’ve successfully completed this study plan. Please give feedback, pros/cons of my regime, advice, suggestions.

It’s not about how many practice tests you do; it’s about how you review the ones you did and learn from your mistakes. I wouldn’t take Barron practice tests. Do the PR practice tests first and save the BB for last.

Hi,=)
I think that Practice Test are playing a great role in our preparation, but firstly we must know theory well.+strategies.So, if your Math is 560 you must review all theory and rules. For math theory I would suggest BARRON’S SAT 23rd ed.(althrough most of CC-ers 99%(1 % it’s me=)) consider than BARRON’S isn’t good). It contains ALL you need to get a high score, but in math you must be very concentrated and “gold rule” no panic.
