when is the best time to be able to fully express yourself in essays for transfer applications? Successful applicants often require a convincing reason to transfer…so maybe after being immersed in the college atmosphere?

Also, maybe you could give me some transfer tips? I’m aiming for a top-notch business program.

Also, will taking 5 courses vs. 4 in each semester make me more competitive as an applicant? Or is it a better strategy to do well in 4 and have a great extra curricular?

Maybe it is overkill, but for a “top-notch” program, you would be wise to take 6. However, if this is your first semester in college feel it out first, but aim high… real high.

5 courses vs. 4 depends on # of credits. Don’t take a light load, but don’t go so over the norm that it is hard for you to perform well. A great GPA with a normal load is better than a mediocre GPA with a heavy load. If you are at an extremely easy school, you could go high with your # of courses. Otherwise, not.

If you haven’t even started college yet, I wouldn’t recommend trying to start on the app now. If this is your first term, I’d suggest waiting until December break to start your app. Heck, you might not even be interested in transferring by that time.

ok so the fact of the matter is that I’m going to be applying to Wharton, and I’m just trying to figure out what they look for most.

I wanted to know if there are any examples of transfer essays that have been successful just so I have an idea of what type of tone to take. If so, where can I find them?
