When Review Deferred Candidates?

In the thread regarding Likely letters, someone made reference to the fact that Columbia does not start reviewing deferred applicants again until the middle of March? Does anyone else know when/how the deferred people are brought back in the process? If they don’t re-look until the middle of March, wouldn’t most of the slots already be filled – and – this would only allow admissions around 1 week or so to review all those applications again?

^lets see: there are 12 weeks to review apps, differed candidates account for about 1200 applications whom they have already evaluated once, in an applicant pool of 17000 one should get about 1/15 of the time, given that a second round a week is pretty long.

Your question assumes that Columbia fills its class on a first-come first-served basis. This is incorrect. Columbia doesn’t just pick the first 1500 people it likes and then stop reviewing apps.
