When self-reporting GPA, do I take into account mid-year reports?

If they are finalized, yes.

Wooh! Just got a .05 boost.

I would speak to your school about it. The last thing you want is your self reported gpa and your counselors gpa to not match up.

@slights32‌ Do GCs submit their own GPAs? I thought they just had to verify everything on a student’s app was true, not submit their own info.

GC’s do submit GPA’s. However, the Secondary School report asks for the time frame for the GPA calculation. If you are reporting through December/Jan, and your GC is reporting through last June, and therefore the GPA’s do not match up, it’s not a big deal. That said, if you are reporting your mid-year GPA, it should match the mid-year transcript,

But do GCs check your common app to verify everything is correct?

@skieurope‌ SO what prevents students from lying about ECs etc?

Nothing. The application is basically on the honor system.

However, as Yale Dean of Undergraduate Admissions [Jeff Brenzel](No choice on scores - Yale Daily News) says:

To me, it’s not worth the risk.
