Simple question…my D was deferred EA and is still holding on with some hope. My sense is that it is time to move on and seriously consider her other options. Based on communications from Michigan, she won’t hear more until mid-April. The late timing of their response says it all to me, yet gives her hope.
Have her guidance counselor give them a call.
If the college has a defined notification date, it seems prudent to wait until that date arrives before writing it off. However, that doesn’t mean that activity on backups, safeties and other opportunities should cease.
Still early in process. Keep watching the deferred EA thread for activity. So far it does not seem like there has been that many cleared.
adkdad, simply put, your D should not just “move on”. The deferral was not personal, neither is the date by which the University makes its final decision. Your daughter needs to pursue all possible venues naturally, but she should not take Michigan’s decision or timing personally. The University is trying its best to sift through 50,000-55,000 applications in a timely, fair and orderly manner. Hopefully, she will get a nice thick envelope when the process comes to a close, but if not, I am sure she will have other excellent options.
It is still early. Most of the RD admission notices are not out yet. If you have no matching school pending and no admission on hand, then you do need to have a back up plan. Otherwise, you should just keep on waiting.
