I am attempting National AP Scholar this year, so I must self-study 3 APs. I have chosen Human Geography, Comparative Government, and European History. Before you say anything, I am taking AP Psychology as a class, so don’t tell me to take that instead.

I already know which books to get and all that. I just want to know when is the best time to start studying and what curriculum should I follow. I think I want to spend more time on Comparative Gov and European History since they seem to cover more stuff. I do not think my sophomore WHAP knowledge will be enough to warrant not studying a lot for APEH. Human Geography does not seem to complicated.

My own plan was to start on Comparative Gov and EH in January or February, and Human Geo on February or March.

What do you guys think?

I’m self-studying EH right now, and it seems kind of detailed and annoying. That’s the only one I’d suggest studying ‘through’ the book (assuming you’re using MEH and/or the Crash Course) at least once before really tackling it in Jan./Feb.

Just my opinion though, I’ve heard the APEH test is rather detail orientated, and there are at least a couple dozen popes and King Louises so far. I’m honestly trying to get the general idea of each the cause/story of each war, situation, period, etc. right now, and then I’ll focus on the specific leaders, figures, and other details.

That’s a good idea. I am pretty good with specific details myself, but I will make sure to review more.

Also, how long is MEH? Is it like a mini-textbook?

Oh it’s about 580+ pages of actual material. But the book’s thickness makes up for its small dimensions. Almost literally, it’s around 4/5th’s of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (weird analogy for a guy who hated HP after book 2).

But yeah, it’s like a novel in length, and an encyclopedia in the way it’s written.

you might want to start on HUG before Comp Gov’t.
HUG’s material helps you understand Comp Gov’t easier.
It seems like Comp Gov’t has a lot of material but the AP is only like a survey couse-ish the in amount of material it covers.
get Ethel Wood’s AP Comp Gov’t study guide or Ken Wedding’s guide if you want a 5.

Thanks a lot everyone!
