When should I take my Standardized tests ?

Hello all ,

I need some help with deciding when to take my SAT and SAT II in conjunction with my other tests that I have registered for.

So CURRENTLY I am registered /will register for :

March 5 : New SAT (already registered for it)

May 6 : AP US History

May 7 : SAT II : US History and Math II

June 4 : New SAT

So the thing is I feel that I’m not ready for the SAT in March and my SAT teachers and college advisers have said not to take it in March but instead in May or June so I can get some more prep.

Some background info: Currently taking Trigonometry and US History Honors in NYC . Planning on applying to Cornell ED and other privates such as NYU and UNC CH. So planning to wrap up all standardized testing before November.

So I’ve been thinking about when I should take it and I have come up with some other ways…

May 6 : AP US History

May 7 : New SAT

June 4 : SAT II : US and Math II

October 1 : New SAT ( if May’s isn’t high enough)

OR

May 6 : AP US History

May 7 : SAT II : US History and Math II

June 4 : SAT I

October 1 : New SAT ( if June’s isn’t high enough)

Any help would be appreciated

I think the last option makes the most sense, since you can study for the APUSH exam and the US History SAT II at the same time.

Also, UNC CH is public, not private. It doesn’t make much difference except that it means it’s much harder to get into OOS.

Thanks for the input and didn’t know about UNC CH that much haha

Agree, last schedule makes most sense. Gives you plenty of time for post SAT study for new SAT over summer

I recommend taking the ACT as well. My son qualified for generous merit scholarships with the ACT which he wouldn’t have qualified for taking only the SAT. He performed much better on the ACT.

Thank you ! , I actually am planning to take a dry run at the ACT in April just for the heck of it .
