Their descriptions sound like the content doesn’t cover past precalculus (Math 2 requires precalculus knowledge, Math 1 doesn’t require precalc knowledge). I’m in a AP Calc AB-equivalent IB class right now. When should I take Math 1 and Math 2? Is it okay to take one without taking the other - for example, taking Math 2 and not taking Math 1?

dont take both… just take math 1

Isn’t math 1 the easier test?

dont take math 1
It is so much harder to do well on math 1 because of its terrible curve.
Plus, many colleges require Math2 Not 1

I know that UCs only accept Math II

they both easy.

Take Math II - it has a great curve and is not too hard. I think its usually -6 = 800. An 800 is around the 90th percentile.

Math 2 is extremely easy. You’re more than prepared now (I’m in IB and I know lol). Math 1’s curve is horrendous. I got a 790 on Math 2, but a 760 on Math 1…

Wow, okay. Thanks for your tips!

which IB class are you in?
my school has only IBs and I’m not sure what they translate to in APs

IB History of the Americas
IB World History
IB Math Studies
IB Math SL
IB Spanish (spanish lit, just ap spanish . . . .)
IB English (is there an ap english, or just ap lit?)

I’m on winter break now, but will be starting IB Calculus 1 next semester.

IB History of the Americas = Not sure, definitely not APUSH though.
IB World History = AP World History
IB Math Studies = we don’t have that at our school; what is it about?
IB Math SL = not sure, but at our school it’s recommended that you take AP Calc BC before taking it
IB Spanish 5 ~ AP Spanish
IB English = at our school, we have two IB English courses, one for junior year and one for senior year. Neither one corresponds directly to an AP course, because they’re both Literature courses here in Colorado. So I’m not sure how that works at your school.

take math ii asap and if you don’t get an 800 take it again until you do
