OK, so I am currently a student at a 4 year CUNY school. I have completed 1 year of school so far and my major is only available for an associates degree. I want to transfer to a SUNY asap for many reasons:
- Buffalo State (the suny I'd like to attend) has the PERFECT major for me
- I am absolutely miserable living at home with my parents.
- I don't want to earn a bunch of credits at my current school only to learn they wont transfer
SO, since it is too late for me to transfer in for fall 2015 (my first semester grades weren’t really impressive so i didnt apply), I’d ideally like to transfer in during the spring. However, im afraid about the financial aid. When I update FAFSA, will my aid adjust to the change in tuition? I dont want to be drowning in debt by the time I graduate. Also, I heard its harder to get housing in the spring, is this true? Also, if I transfer in during fall 2016 (next year) would the same financial aid issues exist??
My mom says i should just get my associates, but I dont want to earn that degree only to learn that i cannot transfer into buff state as a junior bc not enough of my credits transfer.
SO WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!?!
Also, if it matters, I am currently majoring in fashion marketing and i want to transfer into the 3-1 Fashion merchandising major at buff state. I have taken 90% of the classes that I know for a fact will transfer, i dont want to continue at my current school earning credits that will be useless at buff state…
