I can agree with Camille that we have a problem with media in this country…and the media does tend to try and accuse before any kind of investigation has begun. Cosby hung himself with his deposition, but in general the media is feeding people’s emotions through publishing op-eds ad nauseum. I do think there is some degree of pushing the legal boundaries in Pennsylvania, the Penn State hazing trial not withstanding - that one is rolling up on two years. And everyone is afforded the right to a fair trial. I have to assume the prosecutors in the Cosby case knew this and were super, ultra careful not to bend anything legally that could bite them in the rear end on appeal and that this was, indeed, a fair trial. She is a very angry woman clearly and I don’t think she was trying to garner sympathy.
I do believe that Andrea Constant did not consent. I have no knowledge of the rest of those women who made accusations. But I do think he did it once without consent there is every possibility he did it before but this trial was about one woman and one woman only…if anything gets hung up in appeals it is going to be those other women that the prosecutor used. The key here is consent. If you go along with something willingly you’ve tacitly given consent. No one gets to retroactively withdraw their consent a day, a week, a year or a decade later. She consented to take whatever pills Cosby handed her but I don’t believe she consented to being fondled.And because she reported it not too long after it happened I believe her. I think it’s touch suspect that she took money but she probably wanted vindication. I do have a problem with women taking money as a payoff mostly based on my own moral principles and belief in the legal system but that’s neither here nor there. I’m sure Camille is furious that it was “her” husband that ended up in court…but Weinstein never said he used drugs with the women he had sex with and no body is stepping up and willing to puts their buts on the line (and that includes prosecutors) that they did not consent.

The media constantly attempts to shape public views before the facts are heard and analyzed on just about every topic. It’s really sad. The days of hearing news instead of editorials disguised as news are pretty much over.
I agree TranquilMind. Especially because much of it is thinly disguised “op-ed.” It becomes a bully pulpit where every writer and worse other media outlets pick up these opinion pieces and then report it as “news.” In a recent Gallup or maybe it was a Pew Poll only 41% of Americans trust media.
